Blue Goldfish Studios (BGS) the company, is young—founded in April 2009. It’s founder is not (more about that later.)
BGS is basically a one-man shop, located in Olympia, Washington (opening a satellite office in Seattle in 2013) and for larger projects, as a small team of selected collaborators.
Every project is handled by our principal, Kevin Potis—no if’s, and’s or but’s. For larger projects, we’ll collaborate with really great local designers and production people to help meet your deadlines. We know each and every one of them personally and have worked with them for the years—they’re trusted, talented and reliable.
Mr. Potis (he makes us call him that) began his design career as a janitor in Portland, Oregon. We know, it sounds so very Good Will Hunting. But it’s true. While working part-time as a church janitor and part-part-time as a youth pastor, he was asked to design the church’s official youth group t-shirts. That exercise changed him. A week later, he enrolled full time in Portland Community College—his major, Graphic Design.
Twenty years later, Mr. Potis (he won’t let it go) has spent 13 years on the client side, and seven on the agency side of design. Agency work includes national brands like TreeTop Premium Juices, Nalley Fine Foods, Brown & Haley, Eddie Bauer, REI, and Disney. Inhouse client-side work includes large 24-month worldwide rebranding projects, national advertising campaigns, and overseeing the design of 600+ projects a year. Not that he did it alone. The in-house design department was world-class and regularly partnered with outside agencies—FITCH/Seattle, Hornall Anderson, Saatchi & Saatchi, Turnstyle, and Wolff Olins.
Mr. Potis (sigh) calls Olympia home with his wife, 4 children and their 11 lb Chihuahua, Tiger.

Formerly known as KPa Creative, we are now BGS (Blue Goldfish Studios!) We’re everything you need to make design, art direction, brand systems, and event presentation feel like a luxurious set of hand towels. With a scaleable production team for all budgets, you won’t feel strained or limited by options. In fact, we’re so sure you’ll enjoy the process, we’re asking for you to join us in the celebration on St. Patty’s Day, March 17th, at Unicorn on Capital Hill from 5-8pm.
